KB Oil Environmental Ltd.
Principle Products and Services:
KBO was formed in 2008 by Managing Director Ken Booth and Technical Director Steve Scott.
Ken and Steve employ between them more than 60 years of experience in supplying technical and environmentally sustainable solutions to oily sludge problems. Over this time they have been instrumental in developing a number of innovative products and services, the principle elements of which are: -
- Crude oil sludge Topographic and Analytical Survey
The KBO Topographic and Analytical Survey is a manual system where the sludge depth data is collected from the floating roof at positions where the roof legs have been removed. The data is then digitised and processed through a 3D software package which accurately calculates sludge volume and produces 3D and contour representations of the sludge topography. Sludge samples extracted during the survey can be analysed for hydrocarbon and solids content. This information can determine whether it is safe to land the floating roof and, if the roof has been landed, if it is safe to remove tank manways.
- JeMIX non man-entry tank desludging systems
The JeMIX systems are designed for non man-entry tank desludging. The principle behind these systems is that of 'resuspension' where soluble hydrocarbons can be redissolved in fresh oil by the introduction of energy. SS has been involved in the development of a variety of resuspension systems which have been successfully deployed throughout Europe and further afield.
- SPINTeCH centrifuge system for oily sludge processing
The KBO SPINTeCH system has been developed over more than 20 years and employs state of the art bespoke gravitational separation techniques to maximise hydrocarbon recovery and minimise waste for off-site disposal. The heart of the system is the ST150 sludge preconditioning unit and the horizontal decanting centrifuge developed by KB in conjunction with Broadbent Centrifuges, a leading UK manufacturer. The SPINTeCH centrifuge is designed specifically for oil sludge processing and is exclusively available from KBO.
The largest contract undertaken by KBO was at Azzawiya Refinery in Libya where 50,000 m3 of hydrocarbon contaminated waste was processed. The refinery benefited by more than USD $1M (in terms of recovered hydrocarbon value) after all costs had been accounted for.
- Solv8 on-line routine crude oil sludge control.
The innovative Solv8 crude oil sludge control system is newly developed. The system provides a means of maintaining crude oil storage tanks in a sludge free condition throughout the entire storage cycle. The system employs the well understood concept of 'resuspension' and will be offered as a 'sludge management service' with payment based on performance, eliminating any financial exposure for the Client.
